In Loving Memory of Steven “Steve-O” Staff

Steven Staff was far more than a bandmate; he was the steady pulse and the undeniable heart of 300 North. Though many knew him as our formidable bass player, his musical journey was rooted in rhythm; he was an accomplished drummer for years before choosing the bass as his next medium of artistic expression. He poured that deep, percussive soul into every note of our debut album, MADNESS, leaving behind a creative legacy that will resonate through our music forever.

Beyond the stage, Steve-O was a master of his craft and a pillar of the community. Whether he was under the hood of a car or repairing a boat, he operated his business with a level of skill and generosity that was unmatched. He was a man of action who never hesitated to lend a hand to someone in need. His presence was a staple of the Kamas Valley, whether he was volunteering his time to teach lessons at the gun range or arriving at practice in his iconic, bright orange El Camino—a true symbol of his adventurous soul.

Steve-O’s curiosity for the world around him was boundless. He possessed a deep knowledge of geology and a genuine love for the earth, often sharing fascinating insights into the history of the rocks beneath our feet. This passion, combined with his love for metal detecting, led to countless stories of discovery and adventure. He navigated life with a rare combination of sharp intelligence and a quick wit that made every conversation with him a memorable one.

On April 8, 2026, we unexpectedly lost our dear friend, but his impact remains. He leaves behind a loving family, including his brother Tomas, his mother Polly Sato, and his girlfriend Amy, along with a brotherhood of musicians and friends who were better for having known him. While the stage feels quieter without him, we find comfort in the music we made together and the countless lives he touched with his selfless heart. Ride on, Steve-O; you will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
